24,000 men of Israel died because of a season of immorality with Moabite women who were not their wives. Phinehas took a spear and thrust it through the mid sections of one such man engaging in adultery with a Midianite woman. This act of indignation against this sin stopped the plague and appeased the anger of God.
Similarly, the act of sacrifice Christ made on a cross on Calvary’s hill appeased the wrath of God against the sin of all who would look upon Him as their Lord and Savior.
Hallelujah! What a Savior.
