Be Glad

New Covenant Christians should be glad that they are not under the Old Testament system of sacrifices which was nearly as complex as the U.S. IRS code.  An ephah of the finest flour here, and an unblemished bullock there, here a dove, there a lamb … it was exhaustive.

Instead, God wants from us a sincere, oral sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving.  It even pleases him better, because our words are tied directly to our heart.  Ps. 69:30,31

Christ paid the entire penalty for our sin.  Our part, according to the writer of Hebrews, is to praise “Him … continually … [with the] … sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to His name.”  Heb. 13:15

DAILY PRAYER:  Lord Jesus, we praise and thank Your holy name.  You are our eternal sacrifice for sin.  We trust completely in You alone.

DAILY READING:  Num. 27-30
