This expression is another way to say the King James phrase, “And it came to pass.” It is the linear aspect of life, the play out of days, the consequence of our life choices.
One of the great lessons of life is learning how our vertical relationship with God affects our future. One grave mistake can alter the course of a life. Likewise, one good decision can bring a future of blessing.
The writer of Hebrews appeals, “Today, if you hear His voice, don’t harden your hearts” [through disobedient rebellion, giving in to the deceitfulness of sin], but endeavor to enter the Lord’s reward of eternal rest.
