Open Ears

The ability to hear God is vital to the Christian. Isaiah gives us an insight into this essential skill when he says, “He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being instructed. The Sovereign Lord has opened my ears.”

The importance of hearing God in the morning is hereby identified.

Hearing from God is probably the most important thing that will happen in your life today.

DAILY PRAYER: Lord, I am desperate to hear Your voice. Speak to me and grace me to be obedient.

DAILY READING: Isaiah 50-52

No Disappointment

Through Isaiah, God declares that when He ultimately turns the fortunes of His people to show His blessing, they will not be disappointed. The operative word used is “hope.”

Jesus is our Blessed Hope. Paul said if we didn’t have the hope Christ brings, we would probably be miserable.  But, we DO have this hope.

DAILY PRAYER: Lord Jesus, our hope is in You. Let this hope be our anchor when life blows us around.

DAILY READING: Isaiah 46-49

No Other God

A strong, recurring theme of Isaiah … God declares that He is the ONLY GOD.

Simply put, “There is NO OTHER!”Everything originated with God, therefore, all else is created.

How are we to respond to His greatness and power? “Turn to me and be saved,” He lovingly implores.

DAILY PRAYER: Lord, You are my God. You are my Savior. You are my All in All.

DAILY READING: Isaiah 44,45

Fear Not!

“I have redeemed you.”

Isaiah has the privilege of stating the Lord’s protective declaration over His people. It’s comforting to know that in our life’s journey, regardless of the challenges we experience, we have a determined destination for eternity. God is not a man that He should lie. He said we’re safe.

WE’RE SAFE in His arms.

DAILY PRAYER: Lord, though the storms of life rage around us, we will not fear.  You are with us! You have promised us protection.

DAILY READING: Isaiah 41-43

God’s Glory Revealed

The prophet Isaiah foretold the day when, “The glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all people will see it together.” [Is. 40:5]  In that this entire passage expresses one of the Bible’s clearest revelations of the Messiah, we know the incarnation of God’s glory was Jesus, His Son.

In Christ dwelt the fullness of the Godhead bodily. Look no further, nor for any other method to realize God’s power and glory.  It’s all in Jesus.

DAILY PRAYER: Lord, Whom have I in heaven but You, and there is none upon earth that I desire besides You.

DAILY READING: Isaiah 38-40

The Lord, Our Confidence

“They that trust in the Lord shall be as Mt. Zion, which abides forever.”

The elements of this life will always disappoint, but the Lord will always fulfill His promise to give His best to His people.

Confidence, hope, faith … all terms that God’s people can live in and prosper. Look up; your redemption is getting close.

DAILY PRAYER: Lord, we trust You today for every challenge that is placed before us.

DAILY READING: Isaiah 35-37

God’s Warnings

“That day” is a recurring expression in Isaiah’s prophecy. It makes sense to assume that it refers to a future divine visitation from Yahweh. Regardless, God watches the events of this world from His heavenly vantage point, keeps records, and will eventually right all wrongs, punish those who have violated His ways, and reward those whose lives pleased Him. He faithfully warns offenders through His prophets and preachers.

We are wise to heed His warnings and live in the protective shelter of His Son, Christ Jesus. “In Him we [can] live, and move, and have our being.”

DAILY PRAYER: Lord Jesus, You are my hope and refuge. I rest in You and will live out Your teachings with my life.

DAILY READING: Isaiah 31-34

Magnificent Wisdom

Available to God’s children is a way of living that the prophet describes as “Magnificent Wisdom.” He speaks of a voice “behind you saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.'” [Is. 30:21]

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart … in all your ways acknowledge (pray to) Him, and He will direct your paths.” [Pr. 3:5,6]

DAILY PRAYER: Lord, lead us through this life. We need Your Wisdom, Your insight, and Your destinations.

DAILY READING: Isaiah 28-30

Trusting God’s Ways

When considering the prophecies of Isaiah, the reader gains a sense of God’s pending judgements for all who violate His ways and laws. Clearly, He keeps record of every injustice and will mete out due punishment upon offenders.

To accept the undeserved forgiveness and hope for the future that Christ brings is the wisest thing we can do.

Jesus said, “He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.” Jn. 5:24

DAILY PRAYER: Thank You, Jesus, for taking away our sin and its penalty.

DAILY READING:  Isaiah 23-27

When the Lord Speaks

People don’t always want to hear what God has to say. When their lifestyle cuts against the grain of the Bible’s teaching, they become uncomfortable when confronted with God’s message.

Some are glad, however, to hear what He says. What makes some glad makes others mad.

“The Lord takes pleasure in them that fear Him, in those that hope in His mercy.” [Ps. 147:11]

DAILY PRAYER: Lord, forgive us for resisting Your voice. We welcome You and Your entire counsel. We want, above all else, to please You.
