Please and Fear God, Not People

Paul’s above-reproach motivations were on display when he said, “We are not trying to please people but God, who tests our hearts. You know we never used flattery, nor did we put on a mask to cover up greed—God is our witness.  We were not looking for praise from people, not from you or anyone else.”  [1 Thess. 2:4-6]

His speech was always loving but firm. He knew God would hold him personally accountable for the way he treated people … with no favoritism.

Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day (of judgement) shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.”  [1 Cor.3:13]

DAILY PRAYER: Lord, we want hearts that are so truthful that every motive is clear before You and is not tainted by our carnal pride. We entrust all our dealings to Your judgement.

DAILY READING: Co. 3,4;  1 Thess. 1,2
