The Children of Israel had just witnessed a spectacular event, the parting and crossing of the Red Sea. As they began their journey towards the Land of Promise, they were supernaturally led by a pillar of fire by night, and a pillar of cloud by day. In spite of these supernatural provisions from God, their main concern was “What will we eat?” As they grumbled, indicating that they’d rather be back in Egypt for the food, God again provided miracle food … “Manna.”

Their appetite for their immediate needs and wants prevented them from seeing the big picture … that they were free from bondage and headed toward a glorious future. Seem familiar?

DAILY PRAYER: Father, thank You for the abundant life You have provided. Forgive us for being so selfishly concerned primarily with what we think we need and what we want.
