God had used Jehu to wipe out the influence of Ahab. Meanwhile, God had been preserving young Joash, hiding him from Athaliah, the ungodly queen.  He was to rule Israel as king in a way that pleased the Lord. He had been protected by Jehoida, the priest, and others who served the Lord.

The lives of rulers are on open display and need the protection of God to keep from harm.

PRAYER: Father in Heaven, we ask You to preserve the lives of those You have put in office. Keep them safe and grace them to lead the people to serve You.
