Isaiah uttered profound insight into how individuals can truly honor the Lord with their lives in chapter 58. They were personal disciplines such as fasting and keeping the Sabbath.
Both are not popular pulpit subjects nowadays. Our ears are not tickled nor our pleasure-seeking natures appeased when self denial is mentioned. Yet, God used the prophet to identify practices that show Him we are intent upon pleasing Him with our devotion.
As the hymn writer stated, “Take Time to be Holy.”
PRAYER: Father, forgive us for chasing all the meaningless pleasures of life rather than seeking to please You with acts of sacrifice and devotion creating an aroma that truly pleases You.
