Jeremiah was given the task of confronting Judah’s king and its inhabitants with his prophecy and warning … turn from your wicked ways or suffer the penalty. When King Johoikim heard Jeremiah’s words from a scroll, he commanded it to be burned in the fire and for the prophet and his scribe to be killed.
Often the truth really hurts and isn’t well received by those violating it. Nevertheless, it must be spoken. God in Heaven always has messengers who will faithfully declare His counsel. It’s an honorable job to speak for the Lord.
PRAYER: Father, give us the boldness and compassion to speak truth for You. Your ways are true. Ours are not. Cleanse us from all unrighteousness by the blood of the Lamb.
