Restoration

Jeremiah was the primary prophet to detail God’s plan to allow the Jews to be exiled and returned to Israel. To him was given the overview of God’s long process which we can learn from.

What was God’s main motive in restoring the Jews to their homeland? It was His love. God declared to them, “I have loved you with an everlasting love. Therefore, with lovingkindness (mercy) have I drawn you [back to Me, to the land I gave you.]”

James identified this love nature when he declared that God’s mercy triumphed over His judgement. [James 2:13]

PRAYER: Father in Heaven, we are grateful for Your love nature, an everlasting and prevailing force that actually holds the worlds together. Keep us close to You and the merciful bond that we have in Your eternal Kingdom.

Pray for the Peace

Jeremiah instructed the Jews who had been exiled to Babylon to pray for the peace of the city of their captivity. If they did, it’s peace would thereby give them peace. They were to relax and go with the flow.

Similarly, when we find ourselves in situations less than ideal, we can begin praying for God’s prevailing peace to impact our challenge. He will never leave us nor forsake us. He will prepare a table before us in the presence of our enemies. He will keep us.

PRAYER: Lord, forgive us for complaining about our trying situations. Send us Your peace to comfort us and give us the grace to endure until we see Your hand of deliverance which sets us free.

Lack of Care, False Prophets

Jeremiah was used by God to identify false shepherds who didn’t really care for His people and false prophets who tried to speak for God when He really didn’t speak.

He prophesied that a Righteous Branch, Jesus, would come and give true care to God’s people. Christ came and put God’s love in our hearts so that all Christians can show the true care that is really needed.

Concerning what God has said, using the Words of Christ from the New Testament and those who He has commissioned to speak for Him in the canon of scripture is the safest way to speak for God. Quote the Word as directed by His Holy Spirit.

Jeremiah would be happy.

PRAYER: Lord, I want to be one who shows Your true care and speaks for You. Let Your love and Your Word flow through me today.

He Never Knew

Jeremiah was one of the most significant voices in the Bible. His prophecies were among the most direct and consequential that live on in the canon of scripture, yet he thought himself to be a man of trouble and sorrow, so much so that he cursed the day he was born. He was unaware of the importance of his life.

We may live an existence we consider to be difficult. If we are serving the Lord with all our heart, the profitable results of our life will be measured at the end, not in the present. Don’t throw away your ticket … when you arrive at your eternal destination, you will receive a glorious and eternal reward.

PRAYER: Father in Heaven, give me the grace to continue serving You. I hereby make the decision that I will give it all I have and trust You for the results of my life. You will never disappoint. You will never forsake.

God Uses Fire

Whenever the Lord wants to eliminate or refine, He uses fire. It’s an amazing physical process that permanently changes substance like no other. Not only did He use it against Israel’s enemies, He uses it in our lives to dispel sin and habits that hold us back from pleasing Him.

Known as the Refiner’s Fire, allow Him to work in Your life to make it more fit to serve Him.

PRAYER: Father, cleanse me, refine me, consume the dross that hinders.

The Wages of Sin

God used Jeremiah to point out the sins of Israel. His was a hard job, very unpopular. However it must be done. God’s Word and His Spirit identify our shortcomings but praise the Lord, he sent Hos Son, Jesus, to cleanse our sons and offer eternal life in Heaven.

PRAYER: Lord, You are the precious gift that ALL need. I will witness of Your great love.

Care

This is a marvelous concept. When it is present, wasteland turns to fruitful land. When present, the needy have what they need. When present, The afflicted are ministered to. When present, the lonely are comforted.

Our world is starved for people who care. You can be one.

PRAYER: Lord, when we walk about life, let ours eyes of compassion fall upon targets of Your Grace. Let Your loving care flow through us to them.

READING: Jer. 11,12

Our Boast

One of the profound things that Jeremiah said his found in chapter 9. He challenges Believers to find their boast only in the Lord and not in their strength, their wisdom or their money.

This is a good scripture to memorize, I guarantee you. Jeremiah 9:23,24

PRAYER: Lord, our boast is in You alone.
