Daniel had staggering visions and dreams of the future. By his own confession, he did not understand them, nor do most of us. They do give the believer assurance that God knows and controls the future, and that He cares enough about His people to give them glimpses of what’s to come.
Notable is a phrase in Daniel 8 that describes the rise of a fierce king who displays power that’s not his own. He has the gall to take a stand against the prince of Princes (Jesus?) but is destroyed by power that’s not human.
Jesus said, “In the world you shall have tribulation, but be of good cheer … I have overcome the world.” Jn. 16:33
PRAYER: Lord, we find our refuge and comfort in You. You are a Gentle Shepherd, but also the Captain of Heaven’s Armies. You are the Mighty Warrior King.
