When I was in the army, guard duty was a necessary element of a soldier’s life. Generally, you pulled an hour-long shift sometime in the middle of the night. It was often difficult to keep awake, but if one of your fellow soldiers found you sleeping on guard duty, he was justified in shooting you … rather than having the whole unit destroyed because you didn’t detect the enemy.

Jesus told His disciples, “Watch!  Be alert [concerning the end times]!”

Now is the time for us to vigilantly discern the times we are living in.

PRAYER: Father in Heaven, the Kingdom and the entire world belong to You. With the awareness that Your Spirit gives us, we will keep a vigilant watch over our lives and loved ones we care for.
