God made it clear to Eli that he had not honored the Lord in the raising of his sons. They were committing immorality while ministering to the Lord. Therefore, God told Eli that the lives of his offspring would be shortened.

This indictment brings attention to the way we raise our children. We honor the Lord by teaching them His ways and following through with discipline when they disobey at an early age. When they grow up, it’s too late.

PRAYER: Father in Heaven, fill us with Your Spirit and guide us in the raising of our children and grandchildren. Our compliance in this area affects our entire family.
