He Wakens Me

The prophet described the Lord’s manner of waking him to hear instruction. God speaks to us in the night seasons. At times, we wake up with a spiritual insight we didn’t have when we went to bed. Times of affliction can also be used of the Lord to groom our emotions or get our attention on an issue.

We are wise to have an ear to hear what God is saying to us. His Word brings life.

Is Trump a Cyrus?

Some prominent Christian leaders have endorsed President Trump and have called him a modern day Cyrus who was an imperfect vessel who performed God’s will in the earth. Israel has even minted a new coin with a picture of Trump and Cyrus on its face.

Regardless, every elected president deserves and needs our prayer. God’s will in the earth will be effectively supported and more clearly seen as we pray for Him to use leaders to make decisions that fulfill His will.

No Fear

Is. 43 is one of scripture’s foremost protection passages. Simply, if we belong to the Lord, He will protect us.

It’s a beautiful thing to journey through life with NO FEAR. We can apply all our emotional resources to whatever we do and eliminate the drain fear brings.

Children who live in God’s protection and are taught about it grow to trust Him fully.

Justice

Isaiah points to Christ Jesus who will bring True Justice to the Earth. In our day, justice  seems to be a fleeting commodity.

Don’t look to the media for justice. Don’t even look to the government for justice. Look to the Lord.

God sees all

Whereas we are limited by time, God sees Everything At Once. Nothing is hidden from him. The psalmist said if I go to the heavens you are there. If I go to the depths of the ocean you are there. We should not become discouraged when we don’t see the answer yet.  It’s in the pipeline of God’s provision.

Spread It Out Before the Lord

King Hezekiah was desperate for an answer from God after the Assyrian king, Sennacherib, had sent him a letter threatening the devastation of Jerusalem. Wisely, Hezekiah took the letter to God’s temple, laid it out before the Lord, and began crying out to God for a miraculous deliverance.

God heard his plea and gave a message of hope and salvation to Isaiah to relay to him. As a result, one of the Bible’s most astonishing miracles happened … the Lord’s angel slew 185,000 enemy soldiers and demolished Sennacherib’s army in one night.

God can do a similar miracle for YOU. Spread out before the Lord that bill, that need, that devastating diagnosis, that threatening indictment, and believe God to intervene for you. Please let me know what God does for you.

Strategies for the Nations

God used Isaiah to speak to nations at a time. Amazingly, their futures were often predicted by the inspired writings of one of God’s mouthpieces.

Armies are powerless to deter God’s design for a nation, yet God wants each individual person in those nations to hear the Gospel. His eternal purposes supersede the temporal fate of nations and people groups. For that reason, Christians are wise to be aware of the characteristics of nations with the motive of strategizing a missions approach.

For instance, my grandson Caleb is presently in India where proselytizing is illegal. So, he strategically hangs out in a crossfit gym. and a coffee shop looking for opportunities to share his personal faith in Christ with nonbelievers.

Sparkling Gems

When hearing Isaiah, the reader comes upon key verses that seem to glisten above the context. Like a prospector discovering valuable gold in useless ore, we find many spiritual insights and prophecies tucked in the passages written by this major prophet.

These gems are found where God planted them. It’s up to us to find them, seemingly sifting through non-applicable historical trivia … then, BOOM, out of nowhere we discover a verse that comes alive and injects God’s supernatural dynamic into our needy daily lives. It’s called INSPIRATION.

Perfect Peace

A scripture I have leaned upon my entire life of ministry has been Isaiah 26:3. “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve quoted that verse to my situation. Through the years I’ve been the director of MANY church programs, events, and services. When my mind would begin spinning with so many details and pressures to reconcile, I would lean on that quote from the prophet, and I would instantly find the peace God offers because I would simply, yet profoundly trust Him. Here I am, nearly 70 years old, and I don’t even have one worry … thanks to the Lord Who gives me His perfect peace.

God’s Plans Prevail

Through Isaiah’s prophecies, God revealed His plans for nations, cities, and leaders. It’s as if God is playing this massive chess game with the motive of revealing His power and love to mankind … that their lives and destinies will go well if they follow His ways and destructive if they insist on their own way.

The entire Old Testament points to Christ and the eternal life and salvation that is available through Him. Scripture refers to God’s plan … that Christ, planned before the foundations of the earth, was to be the Lamb slain for the sins of men.

As scripture points to God’s plan for redemption, so should our lives. We are living witnesses to the saving power of Christ Jesus.
