The last day

Jesus taught that he would raise his disciples and followers up on the last day. The  Heavenly Father had given Him this assignment. Life has so many different polls and attractions that want to divert attention from Christ’s objective. We are wise to avoid these distractions and separate ourselves from worldly enticements.

We should live for Christ’s pleasure and not our own.

God’s Timing

When the name of Jesus is invoked, God’s healing power is released simultaneously. Whenever we call his name, wherever we are, his healing power and actionability are released immediately.

We are wise to sync up our prayers with our needs. When you know someone is having a critical surgery, or someone is traveling on the road, pray right then. Also, God’s Spirit will stir us to pray when it is needed.

Miracles reveal God’s glory

When Jesus turned the water into wine at the marriage ceremony in Cana, people began witnessing the glory of God in action. Miracles get our attention. Reluctant at first, the compassionate heart of Christ responded to the practical needs of the people He lived with.

We should do likewise

Then they knew Him

After He had been resurrected, Jesus met His disciples. As He began breaking bread and serving them, it was then that they knew that He was the Messiah.

As we become servants like He was, then people will see the Spirit of Christ in action. In true humility, Christ and His leadership are truly seen.

Stand Firm

Jesus warned that in the end times (our times) that great persecution would happen to Christians “Because of My name.” He instructs us not to worry, or try to prepare a defense ahead of time. “I will give you words and wisdom,”He said. He also promised that not a hair of our head would be hurt … and that we would win in life if we stand firm.

The exciting thing is that He instructed us to keep looking up, that our redemption and reward were getting close.

“Eye hasn’t seen, it hasn’t entered the heart of man the things God has prepared for those who love Him.”

The Size of Faith

Jesus said if your faith is as small as a mustard seed, you could say to a mulberry tree, “Be planted in the sea.” His disciples had just asked for Him to increase their faith. He seemed to be saying, it’s not the size of your faith, but the use you give it. A seed, for instance, grows once its put into the soil and watered and given sunlight. It is used rather than sitting in a dry bag, waiting to be planted.

The message … USE the faith that you have and it will grow.

Always Teaching

Jesus took every opportunity possible to teach Kingdom truths to anyone who would listen. In the synagogue, in homes, in life’s everyday situations, He was always taking advantage of any circumstance to communicate eternal principles. His miracle-working power got people’s attention. They listened when He spoke.

We need to likewise take every opportunity possible to teach and model God’s Kingdom. Pray for every need you hear about. Reach out with Christ’s love to every hurting soul. Humbly share your God-stories to friends and acquaintances about how the Lord is working in your life. Especially give yourself to children who need to be taught and nurtured in the ways of God. Our enemy is busy too. Let’s be busier.

Clean Inside

When Jesus was challenged about why He didn’t wash before eating, He drew attention to the need for inner purity as being more necessary than outer cleanliness. The hypocritical religious leaders majored on the visible, outward rules rather than a purity of heart and motive.

This was one of Christ’s major themes … becoming clean on the inside. Paul referred to a circumcision of the heart as being more important than the outward circumcision of the flesh.

Of course, we need to bathe and keep clean. But the Lord is mostly encouraging us to seek to be pure and clean from the inside out. The Word of God is our washing agent.

They Didn’t Receive Him

As Jesus and His disciples were traveling toward Jerusalem, they encountered a village who did not receive Him. His disciples wanted to call down fire from heaven as a punishment to those people. Christ rebuked them and said they were unaware of how wrong their spirit was … that He came to heal men and not destroy them.

It’s easy to get riled up when people oppose us for the sake of Christ. Remember, He loves them and wants us to love and be merciful to them too.

We get too shortsighted in our view. We have little patience for those who are not on our team.

Don’t Fear – Just Believe

Jesus had been requested by Jairus, the leader of the synagogue, to come and pray for his daughter who was very ill. When news reached them that she had passed away, Jesus spoke these words to Jairus … “Don’t fear, just believe.” Christ went on to raise the young girl from the dead.

Many life challenges confront us. They can bring fear and doubt. Jesus is saying to us these same words. “Don’t fear … just believe.”
