During Christ’s suffering just days and hours before His crucifixion, He was relegated to the subjection of the Roman soldiers who mocked and taunted Him with flagrant disrespect. They placed a wooden staff in His hands and even beat His head with it. No doubt His head and face were disfigured, bloody and swollen from this abuse. He suffered willingly because He knew it was in our stead and for our healing.
Life strikes you in the head often. As Christ did NOT deserve this abuse, so we find ourselves experiencing undeserved and painful experiences in our lives. We can, in that moment, look to our Savior Who Himself knows and feels our pain.
For we have not an high priest (Jesus) which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. [Heb. 4:15]
