God instructed the priests to lay their hands upon an animal and thereby transmit or impart their sin to the animal who would then be sacrificed. The animal died for the sin of the priest.

Impartation by laying on of hands also happens in the New Testament.

Paul said, “For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift…” [Rom. 1:11]

To Timothy, he said, “Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands.” [1 Tim. 4:14]

Parents, when your children are sleeping, lay your hands upon their heads and pray for God’s fruitful giftings to be imparted.
