One of the classic passages endorsing obedience is found in 1 Samuel 15 when Samuel was grieved that Saul had disobeyed the Lord’s command to completely destroy the Amalekites. Saul made a decision that had the appearance of religion … “I kept back the best livestock to offer a sacrifice to the Lord” … but was a blatantly rebellious gesture to God.

We are not wise to allow our rationalizations to “allow” rebellion and sin in moderation to remain in our lives.
