How did He do it?

John 6

Did you ever wonder how Jesus multiplied the loaves and fishes when He fed large crowds of listeners? I have. If we were the Disciples watching Him break up the bread and fishes, when did the miracle happen? Was it in His hand? Was it in the basket? Did it happen as they were distributed? It’s a mystery.

Yet, He did it and people kept coming out to hear Him. I am convinced that miraculous signs and wonders should be a part of every Christian’s daily life. We don’t have because we don’t ask. We should be taking every opportunity possible to pray with faith in Christ’s Name. We should verbalize our requests out loud and EXPECT God to move. We MUST believe that HE IS and that He is a rewarder of them that seek Him.

When people see the Church that they read about in the book of Acts, saints will be added to the Church daily.

One

John 5

Jesus said, “I and My Father are ONE. If you’ve seen Me, you’ve seen My Father.”

He also said, “Any kingdom divided against itself cannot stand.” God is not divided. From the beginning, the God of the Jews has always been known as “One God.” The great Shema Yisrael from Deut. 6:4 is the prayer and declaration all Jews hold universally. It says, “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord.”

When we pray to Jesus, we are praying to the Father. We don’t divide our prayer. In Christ Jesus dwelt the fullness of the Godhead bodily. When you have Christ, you have ALL of God. No man can come to the Father except by Jesus. Jesus puts a face on God.

“If you knew”

John 4

A thirsty woman was drawing water from Jacob’s well in Samaria. Christ Jesus asked her for a drink of water. This was His segue into revealing to her Who He really was and thereby drawing her into a spiritual relationship. In their dialogue, He revealed to her that He was The Messiah and that He could give her Eternal Life.

Whomever comes in contact with Christ through the witness of His Saints, Jesus wants to draw them into a deeper revelation of Himself. When we are about the occurrences of daily life, Christ wants to use our interaction with people to let them taste Eternal Life … that they may KNOW HIM.

See Jesus – “C” Jesus

John 3

Everyone with an affliction should look up to Jesus. He was lifted high on the cross for all to see. The Children of Israel could look at Nehushtan, the brazen image of a serpent that was lifted up, and be healed. Christ likewise is the focal point for salvation and healing.

The “C” is for cancer. If you have cancer, you can look at Jesus and be healed.

That’s where my focus is. Since being diagnosed in 2012 with Multiple Myeloma, I have been treated with the best medical science has to offer. I appreciate it. BUT, my true healer is Jesus. I keep my eyes on Him. He saves me. He forgives my sin. He restores me. He heals me. See (“C”) Jesus.

His Disciples believed in Him

John 2

After Jesus turned the water into wine, an impressive miracle, John relates, “His Disciples believed in Him.”

That’s what miracles can do. When they happen, people take notice and realize that God’s supernatural power is at work. They begin believing.

We need more miracles today. We need a greater display of God’s supernatural power in our lives. They are less likely to happen if we don’t pray and ask for them in faith.

Let’s begin using Hebrews 11:6 … But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. … and anticipate more miracles. We don’t have because we don’t ask. Asking is OUR PART. Supernatural occurrences are GOD’S PART.

Now, have we ever known God to fail?

Goal: No Guile

John 1

Christ declared of Nathanael, “An Israelite indeed in whom there is no guile.” What did Jesus mean?

He meant: (definitions taken from various English translations of the Bible)

  • No deceit
  • You can trust him
  • Nothing false in him
  • He is sincere
  • No deception or duplicity
  • A man of complete integrity

This is a worthy goal for our lives and the lives of our loved ones.

We are witnesses

Luke 24

Just before Christ Jesus ascended into Heaven, He showed Himself to His Disciples. He commissioned them to be witnesses of what they had seen and heard.

That’s what we are to be … witnesses to our generation about what we have seen and heard. Do you have a story of what Jesus has done for you? You have been instructed to tell it to others. This takes away the pressure to be an accomplished theologian when you describe your experiences with Christ to others.

In John 9 we find the story of a man who was blind from birth. The religious leaders desired to pin him down to a theological discussion of whether sin was responsible for his blindness. He simply witnessed to them by saying, “One thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.

Tell others what the Lord has done for you.

Forgiveness

Luke 23

Christ Jesus suffered greatly when He was arrested and accused in Jerusalem. Neither Pilate nor Herod could find any guilt in Him, yet the will of the people (the vocal ones) prevailed, and He was crucified. He forgave them all.

Christ is the ultimate example to all of us of Godliness. He taught us to pray, “Forgive us our sins AS we forgive those who sin against us.” Every time I pray that line, I check my mental screen to see who pops up. I choose to forgive, regardless.

When we forgive and put all retribution into God’s Hands, we are demonstrating meekness like Christ did. We all know that God exalted Jesus to the Highest Place.

Jesus went, as usual

Luke 22

The Mount of Olives was Christ’s place of prayer. David prayed in the fortress of Zion. Daniel opened his window to Heaven and prayed. Jacob was known for his prayer at Bethel.

These Bible greats all had customary places of prayer. It’s not so much where they prayed as it is THAT they prayed on a consistent basis.

If Christ our Lord needed to pray often, how much more should WE pray often. May it also be said of us … as usual.

“I will give you words”

Luke 20, 21

If you’ve ever felt the inspiration of the Holy Spirit as you witness, you are fulfilling this scripture nugget. Christ said, “I will give you words” when you are persecuted for being a Christian. Hopefully, pastors who preach on Sunday mornings experience this when they get up to speak. One pastor said, “I can’t wait to preach to hear what I have to say.” This statement implies that he relies upon the Holy Spirit to use him as a mouthpiece.
