Neh. 13 [The Message]
One of the messier jobs for spiritual leaders is that of holding the saints accountable to the Word and eliminating un-scriptural elements of faith. God’s leaders must know the Word to the extent that they can identify heretical thinking and behavior and remove it.
Nehemiah cast Tobiah out of the Temple. He had connived his way in through unholy marriage relationships with Temple leaders. He set up his own business enterprises in the Temple storerooms that were to be used to take care of the Levitical priests. (Carnal enterprises usually displace vital Kingdom ministries)
Godly New Testament leaders don’t run roughshod over the saints. They meekly and lovingly instruct them in the correct way to go.
And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; [2 Tim. 2:24, 25]
