Preparing to meet with God

Ex. 30

The extensive and exacting process the priests went through speaks of the importance of meeting with God. We are mistaken if we think our preparation is less important.

We are instructed to “Come before His presence with singing.” Also, thanksgiving and praise are recommended. Prayer sanctifies us.

He deserves our focused and sincere preparation.

There I will meet with you

Ex. 25

Between the outstretched wings of the golden cherubs on top of the Ark of the Covenant is where God said He would meet with Moses.

Jesus is the Shekinah Glory of God and we meet with Him when we praise Him. Christ’s presence was so real and wonderful yesterday in church as a group of TCS students led on worship. So many saints all meeting with Jesus on Sunday mornings is almost Heaven. He walks among us!

Our Kinsman Redeemer

Through my Sunday School Bible class, the study of what and Who our Kinsman Redeemer is … Jesus. God’s SON… I have a greater appreciation for what Christ DID and what He WILL DO by avenging the lives of many through His destruction of our enemy, the devil.

Little by little

Ex. 24

God’s patience in His methods was revealed when He removed the prior inhabitants of the Promised Land “little by little.” He knew that Israel would have too big a job subduing it all at once. He was mindful of their capabilities.

God doesn’t overwhelm us with too much at one time. He knows our frailties and meters out our blessings such that we can truly enjoy them.

Of Mary, it was said, “He regarded the low estate of His handmaiden.”

Angels protect you

Ex.. 23

Never hesitate to ask God to use His angels to protect you or your loved ones. It’s one of their jobs.

TCS used to house their high school at the Crossroads Church 154 campus. I was extremely concerned to have our students, all novice drivers, using the entrance from a busy highway. I just prayed. “Lord, always have your angels there guarding our precious students.” He DID IT! There were only relatively minor accidents there. Thank you, Jesus!

Guard your mouth

Ex. 23

In the Law, you were forbidden to even let the name of false gods be on your lips. Yes, it’s critical what comes out our mouth. Many mouths need to be closed for repairs.

If the right things are in your mind, a healthy conversation will follow: “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” Phil. 4:8

Stiff penalties

Ex. 20

As Moses was given the law and commandments, the penalties for disobedience were also clarified. It’s noteworthy and frightening to see how many times death was the punishment for violations. I call that living in fear.

The wages of sin is death. More people would live in obedience if instant death was enforced.Thank the Lord for time and space to repent and reform.

God’s mercy triumphs over His judgement. . James 2:13b

Pray like Paul

Colossians 1:9

Today I take my cue from the Biblegateway verse of the day.

Whomever you carry in your heart as a prayer burden, consider this request for them; … “We have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of His will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives,”

That was obviously Paul’s prayer script for the believers at Colosse. Plug in the name of your prayer target. Notice that it’s God that does the work while we merely pray.

As a young man, I was inclined to think that no one could do things as well as I could (pride). Many years later, I learned how to delegate, and it was a wonderful new world. It was a better way.

Moses’ father-in-law, Jethro, taught him the same lesson.

A good teacher understands and implements appropriate tests and measurements that instruct as well as gauge progress.

The Lord watched the Israelites to see if they would gather enough food on the day before the Sabbath. If they went hungry, they realized what kind of grade they got.
