Samuel rebuked Saul for keeping the booty and sparing an enemy king after God had commanded him to eliminate them altogether. Saul learned that “To obey is better than sacrifice.” His kingdom was taken away from him because of his disobedience.

Our lives lose critically valuable focus when we don’t obey the Lord’s commands. [Jn. 16:24]
