1 Sam. 16

Samuel, per God’s instructions, was searching for the new king of Israel. Seven of Jesse’s outstanding sons passed by the prophet, but God said no to them all. Frustrated, Samuel asked, “Do you have any other sons?” Jesse’s replied, “Oh, there’s still the youngest … but he’s on a hillside tending the sheep.”

“Bring him at once!”

Sure enough, David was God’s chosen. Wouldn’t you know it … he was doing just what his earthly father asked him to do … tend the sheep.
