Preparing for eternity

Ps. 45

Get ready to LIVE FOREVER!

Now that’s a strange thought. We presently deal with the frailties of our human flesh. No wonder Paul said this corruptible body can’t possibly inherit an eternal existence. We must put on immortality in a body that has been changed. Personally, I heartily welcome that change.

Hope

Ps. 43

Hope is the antidote for depression and discouragement. Depressed people have no hope and generally nothing to live for.

Hope is far better than medicine or drugs. People can find their hope in Christ Jesus. He is referred to as the “Blessed Hope.”

“My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness. “

Sustained on your sickbed

Ps. 41

I have spent many days on a sickbed … cancer, joint replacements, gall bladder removed, and on and on. Yet, I’m still here and living a pretty good life. The only explanation is that the Lord has “sustained” me.

If perfect health is your measure of fulfillment in life, you are a rare breed. With the Lord’s help, we can live a rewarding life and look forward to the glorified body we will have in heaven.

Keep trusting and praying!

Come quickly

Ps. 38

My mentor used to say, “God may be slow, but He’s NEVER LATE.”

It’s true … all the while managing the entire universe, He still has time to come when we call. Realizing how slow he thought God was, the Psalmist had the nerve to request that God would hurry things up.

It’s a superfluous request, because God sees the entire timeline and will swoop in at precisely the right moment to save your bacon.

We can trust Him, for “Father knows best.”

Wait patiently

Ps. 37

This Psalm, from David’s old age, is fabulous. It offers insights on how to live a Godly life with benefits galore.

One of David’s virtues was the ability to trust and wait to see God’s impact on his life’s challenges. Whenever he says “wait,” it’s an opportunity to gather and accumulate strength and provision from the Lord.

We shouldn’t rush into self-made solutions … we should wait on the Lord to answer and bring eternal solutions.

“It’s Friday, but SUNDAY’S COMIN.'”

Defense

Ps. 36

God is OUR DEFENDER.

If He takes care of your defense, then you can focus on offense.

Go after your enemy … the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. In prayer, constantly resist and rebuke these things for yourself and those you love.

A circle of protection

Ps. 34:7

God’s angel is encamped around you and those you love. This is a very comforting truth.

When Trinity used to have their High School at Crossroads Church, there was a dangerous intersection for these young drivers to negotiate. I asked the Lord to keep His angels there to protect them. HE DID!

God closely watches …

Ps. 33

He is closely watching EVERYTHING we do. His eyes are constantly upon everyone, righteous and unrighteous.

Nothing is hidden from Him. Don’t even try to fool Him. He sees it all, yet He loves us SO MUCH.

Confess and forsake your sin. Let Him rejoice over your good works.

For Thy Name’s sake

Ps. 31

I’ve been delinquent. Sorry. We’ve been in Ohio for a week to attend my cousin reunion.

A great appeal the Psalmist used to gain God’s help when he was in trouble was to invite the Lord to vindicate His name by protecting David.

We are the people known by God’s name. Call upon that name when you need His help.
