About dpdemos

I am a 75 year old Christian who takes the daily devotional life seriously. I am told that my Greek grandfather was a devout man. My father was a devout man. May it be said of me.

An Everlasting Covenant

Ezekiel 37

After he brought the dry bones back to life, God showed the prophet of the coming day when Israel would forever be drawn back to their Eternal King, Jesus. When we accept Christ, we too become part of His Eternal Bride, and will be safe with Him FOREVER!

Fruit in Israel

Ezekiel. 36

As the prophet predicted, Israel became a producer of some of the best and biggest fruit in the world. Because of her suitable climate, fruit can be grown year-round.

God deserves fruit from our lives all the time. His Word and His Spirit keep us warm and watered. No excuses.

Bad news

Ezekiel. 29, 30

I WOULD NOT want Ezekiel giving me a word. He was generally the bearer of bad news to nations, cities, or people groups. It must have been a lonely existence for hm, yet he was in demand because he had an accurate message.

What would his message be to the U.S.?

I would not want to be Maduro or an inhabitant of Venezuela right now. F-18s are buzzing off their coast in a show of force.

Imagine how Ezekiel would describe THAT …

“Thank You, Jesus …

Ezekiel 18

… for the blood applied.” I just love Charity Gayle’s song with that title. (Listen to it on Youtube)

When I read of God’s death penalty for violating His Laws, I realize that the indweling of His Holy Spirit and the power of His grace impel me in the right direction. His Precious Blood washes me clean. That’s why I am so grateful for His power within me to live a life that pleases Him.

God’s weapons

Ezekiel 14

Sword, famine, wild beasts, and plague; the prophet identified these as deterrents God uses to enforce His mandates. I guess the swarm of locusts can be considered “wild beasts.”

Regardless, God in His Supreme Power can get man’s attention convincingly.

My mentor used to say, “God can pull the pins on your chariot wheels and let you ride on axles.” Now that’s an interesting word picture.

Idols of the heart

Ezekiel. 14

God showed Ezekiel that the leaders of Israel had idols of their heart as a big problem. The Message Bible interprets it as “embracing wickedness.”

Leaders (and all of us) are warned to hate evil and give it NO PLACE in our heart. The Holy Spirit can put His Finger on it in a heartbeat.

Prophet of doom

Ezekiel 4-8

Wow. God surely dragged Ezekiel through the dregs of His people. The prophet was made to see firsthand the detestable sins God hates. Much like Christ, our Savior, he carried the weight of sin upon himself.

Peter said, “Cast all your care upon Christ. He cares for you.” [1 Peter 5:7]

The Warning

Ezekiel 3

One of a parent’s most effective teaching devices is “The Warning.”

When warned, a child or subordinate is given time, space, and clarification on how to achieve acceptable conformity. It’s a vital step in the process of correction.

You may have helped them avoid destruction.
