About dpdemos

I am a 75 year old Christian who takes the daily devotional life seriously. I am told that my Greek grandfather was a devout man. My father was a devout man. May it be said of me.

If My people

2 Chron. 7

We often don’t pay enough attention to the “ifs” in scripture. God is faithful to let us know what He will do IF we do our part.

To hold up our end of the relationship, God has extended His grace. It’s Him working in us both to will and to do His pleasure. [Phil. 2:13]

We need the Ark

2 Chron. 6

David sought to put the Ark in the Temple where it belonged. It spoke of God’s presence. We need His presence in our churches.

I am reading a book about revival in Scotland. It really stirs me to pray for God’s power and manifest presence in our churches.

Lord, take your rightful place in our churches and SHOW US YOUR POWER.

God keeps His promises

2 Chron. 6

God promised David that his descendants would always sit on Judah’s throne. Jesus was a Son of David.

God promised that He would never leave us nor forsake us. [Heb. 13:5] The context implies His ability to provide for our needs. Take it to the bank.

So much gold

2 Chron. 1-5

Solomon’s temple seemed to have gold plating on about everything. It must have been something to behold.

Peter said the trial of our faith is more precious than gold.[1 Pet. 1:7] The difficulty you may be going through adds great value to your Christian walk. Take heart.

HAPPY EASTER. Christ Jesus has overcome death, hell, and the grave for us. Today, we rejoice!

Ask wisely

2 Chronicles 1

God told Solomon, “Ask for whatever you want.” Solomon wisely asked for the wisdom to rule God’s people effectively. Because he made an unselfish request, God went overboard on giving him EVERYTHING.

James warns us not to make requests to consume upon our carnal desires. You generally can’t go wrong praying for the well-being of others.

Inspired plans

1 Chron. 28

God’s Spirit gave David the plans for the new temple. He wrote them all down and handed them off to his son, Solomon, as the Lord had directed. God knows the best way to do ANYTHING. As you think on Him, He can give to you the plans for life that you need!

GOOD FRIDAY. Today we remember the death and crucifixion of Christ in preparation for Resurrection Day on Sunday.

Christ died that we might LIVE ETERNALLY!

Delegate

1 Chron.

David wisely delegated and divided kingdom duties among the leaders God had given him. We know from his writings that he spent much time in the Lord’s presence in worship.

Finding time to spend in devotion to the Lord is a matter of prioritization.

Seek ye FIRST the Kingdom of God and His righteousness!

To number, or not

1 Chron. 22

David may have been thinking, “I am a very successful war leader. I wonder how big my army is?” So, he began a headcount. This displeased the Lord greatly. Relying on the arm of flesh RATHER than upon God’s power is a recipe for disaster.

Pray, rather than count.

A Mighty Warrior

1 Chron. 20

God gave David victory wherever he turned. He never suffered defeat on the battlefield.

God can give us similar results. No enemy formed against us will prosper. Christ always leads us in triumphal procession.

Composer of Psalms

1 Chron. 16

King David composed many of the Psalms in our Bible. They are made to sing. For many years, I would sing through 5 Psalms each day in devotion to the Lord.

You should try it. Merely begin singing a spontaneous melody to a Psalm. The Lord is your audience. He LOVES to hear you sing.
