About dpdemos

I am a 75 year old Christian who takes the daily devotional life seriously. I am told that my Greek grandfather was a devout man. My father was a devout man. May it be said of me.

Prophet of doom

Ezekiel 4-8

Wow. God surely dragged Ezekiel through the dregs of His people. The prophet was made to see firsthand the detestable sins God hates. Much like Christ, our Savior, he carried the weight of sin upon himself.

Peter said, “Cast all your care upon Christ. He cares for you.” [1 Peter 5:7]

The Warning

Ezekiel 3

One of a parent’s most effective teaching devices is “The Warning.”

When warned, a child or subordinate is given time, space, and clarification on how to achieve acceptable conformity. It’s a vital step in the process of correction.

You may have helped them avoid destruction.

Wait

Ezekiel 3

The Biblical concept of waiting accumulates and anticipates what God says. It’s much more than being idle.

When is the waiting over? When you hear from God and rise to be obedient to His Will.

“The Kingdom come, Thy Will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.” [Matt. 6:10]

How dare he

Lam. 3

Jeremiah did the unthinkable … he wished a curse upon his enemies. Don’t laugh. David did the same thing. In Ps. 109, he wished some unthinkable hardships upon his enemies.

Jesus, however, said, ‘Love your enemies,” and “Pray for those who persecute you.” [Matt. 5:44]

Out with the Old … in with the New.

No One escapes

Lam. 2

David Wilkerson once said, “If God lets New York City escape judgement, He will have to issue an apology to Sodom and Gomorrah.” Her new mayor may bring her closer to an unkind fate than anything heretofore. (My opinion)

Jerusalem was devastated by Babylon. The “Joy of the whole earth” suffered total humiliation. Sin and rebellion yield painful consequences EVENTUALLY.

Thankfully, the Blood of Christ can cleanse ALL SIN.

[Listen to Charity Gayle sing ” The Blood Applied.”] She’s my favorite singer right now.

Sin brings grief

Lamentations 1

For all of her many years of resisting God’s warnings, Jerusalem kept sinning. The accumulation of penalty came crushing down upon her king and inhabitants when the army of Babylon devastated the city and its inhabitants. All the kings sons were murdered before his eyes, then his eyes put out. THAT is pure grief.

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. [Rom. 6:23]

The penalty of defiance

Jer. 48

Moab was defiant to God. Therefore He destroyed them. It is open resistance and bold disobedience. These flaws should not be tolerated in God’s Kingdom, especially the Christian family.

I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart. [Ps. 40:8]

Incense

Jer. 45+

The Psalmist said, “Let my prayer be set before Thee as incense.”

The Hebrew women were offering incense to idols. This infuriated the Lord.

He wants our prauers to continually be offered to Him alone.
