Good Shepherds Gather

Jer. 23

Notice saints and leaders who have the habit of gathering God’s Children and you will see The Great Shepherd at work. Christ scatters wolves but gather His sheep. He feeds and cares for them. Their welfare is more important to (H)im than (H)is own. He gives to them rather than always angling that they give to him.

A difficult life

Jer. 20

The prophet endured all kinds of ridicule and rejection for speaking God’s Word to the backslidden nation of God’s people. They were going into exile for their sin. They didn’t want to hear about it.

Jeremiah felt God’s message inside like a fire in his bones.

Speaking God’s Word is no picnic. But, he was faithful. He will have been greatly rewarded for his obedience.

No sin concealed

Jer. 16

If any of us think our secret sins are hidden from God, we are sadly mistaken. God sees it, but can and will forgive it if we confess and forsake it. He’s not willing that any perish.

The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good. [Pr. 15:3]

If you repent

Jer. 15

Repentance is one of the key themes of the Bible. Everyone messes up. To repent is the solution. Confession is uttered by our mouths. Repentance is the restoring activity of our actions. It’s regretting our sin and TURNING from it.

Repentance is known by its fruit. “Go and sin NO MORE.”

God’s compassion rules

Jer. 12

Although He strikes out in His anger when He is constantly disobeyed. He always comes back around to His merciful compassion. Why? Because our God is LOVE.

And after I have plucked them up, I will again have compassion on them, and I will bring them again each to his heritage and each to his land. [Ch. 12:15, RSV]

A vengeful prophet

Jer. 17

Jeremiah was clearly bitter about having to relay such a bitter and painful message to Jerusalem’s inhabitants. He wished painful consequences upon his critics.

We live in a day when the attitudes of many seem so destructive to our nation. Vengeful actions won’t help. Jesus said, ” Forgive us OUR sins AS we forgive those who sin against us.”

Jesus, help me use Your method of treating my enemies.

For the sake of Your Name

Jer. 14

One of the strongest reasons for God to heal us is for the sake of His Name. We are the people of His Name and He is the God of our provision. As we ask for healing, we can appeal to His role as our Heavenly Father … “For the sake of Your Name and because You are my provider, heal me in Jesus Name.”

Know God

Jer. 9

Don’t boast in ANYTHING but that you know God.

The benefits of being wise, strong, or wealthy cannot compare to the impact of knowing God. He can only be known through relationship with Christ Jesus, His Son.

What are you seeking? Seek Jesus for EVERYTHING.

Did he realize?

Jer. 8

When Jeremiah asked the question, “Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there?” … did he realize he was prophetically referring to Jesus. the Great Physician?

God supernaturally has the ability to speak and operate through us.

To be used of God is one of life’s highest privileges. He can speak through a donkey, but would rather anoint pure vessels. Allow God’s holiness to consume and use you.

God’s message: “Obey Me”

Jer. 7

It’s really very simple …. Live life following the Lord’s instructions. They are found in His Word.

What parent allows their child to play in the street? Or with poisonous snakes, or with a loaded gun?

Teaching obedience should be a prominent goal of any home or educational institution. Rather than cultivating independence, we should groom dependence upon God and His Word.
