We BELIEVE God’s Word

Ezekiel 39

Although we have difficulty putting a name or historical identity upon menacing figures Ezekiel refers to in his prophecy, we gather a sense that our God sits in the Heavens and employs FULL CONTROL over the fate of His opponents. It is actually very comforting to read these Old Testament prophecies and apply the confidence we receive through them to present day challenges.

David said, “I will fear NO EVIL: for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me.” [Ps. 23:4b]

Our focus should be upon His greatness and protection rather than upon our enemy’s threats or raging.

God’s weapons

Ezekiel 38

God does not need the latest drone technology or nuclear warhead to maintain battle superiority! He merely needs to call upon the earthquake, plague, bloodshed, torrential rains, hailstones, and fire and sulfur.

No one else is sitting at the cockpit of all the elements of nature. There is no nation or military machine that can out strategize God. All this … and then there is the angelic army. One angel can eliminate 180,000 men.

Nobody stands a change against God when He summons His weapons.

I am on the Lord’s side. Are you?

Joining together

Ezekiel 37

Among the prevailing themes of Ezekiel 37, a prominent one is that of joining together. Bones were joined together and tribes for joined together. God loves to see his people come together. The enemy would separate but God joins.

if you sense being divided or separated from your brother or sister in Christ, it probably has the enemy’s influence at work. Recognize it for what it is and proceed to become joined with those that are part of the body of Christ.

God protects His Name

Ez. 36, 36

We never have to worry whether God will protect his name or not. With his name his reputation is at stake.

The young shepherd boy David honored and defended the name of the Lord when he came up against Goliath.

Jesus instructed us to “take no thought how or what ye shall speak: (when we are persecuted for his name) for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. Matt. 10:19

The Great Shepherd

Ez. 34

God makes a distinction between shepherds who look out for themselves and true shepherds who watch out for the sheep.

jesus, the Great Shepherd, laid his life down for his sheep.

We should get our minds off ourselves and our needs and our well-being. We need to look out for others.

I forgot …

Exekiel 33

I forgot to push the “Publish” button yesterday. Please back up one to read “The SOVEREIGN Lord.”

Today, we discuss the warning. If you see someone in their sin and warn them of the eternal consequences of it, you have done your job and their guilt is upon themself. However, if you don’t warn them and they perish, it is upon you. God is gracious and forgiving, BUT we have a job to do in sharing the Gospel and the consequences of rejecting Christ.

The Holy Spirit gives us boldness to witness!

The SOVEREIGN Lord

Ezekiel 31, 32

God’s sovereignty is His “absolute right to do all things according to his own good pleasure.” [Easton Bible Dictionary]

God created everything and provided the substance and matter from which it was formed. In fact, He “spoke” everything into existence. His power is actuated by His voice.

He speaks through His Word, He speaks through us as we quote His Word, and He speaks through us when we present the Gospel.

God’s chess pieces

Ezekiel 29, 30

God shows Ezekiel how nations will fit in to His plan for their future. It’s as if He uses them like chess pieces to accomplish His strategies in the earth. Their success or failure does not depend upon their craft or strength. How they have conducted themselves morally and spiritually are the big factors.

It’s that way in life. We can place our confidence in wealth, armament, intelligence, or pure physical ability. God will allow all these strengths to fail so that we will finally acknowledge that HE RULES in the affairs of man.

We must keep praying for our nation.

Satan on a leash

Ezekiel 28

A portion of Ezekiel’s prophecy concerning the king of Tyre is about the man. Another distinct portion is about Lucifer, God’s formerly anointed cherub who had a very high position in heaven but lost it because wickedness and pride was found in him.

In my opinion, the devil is often given too much credit for things going wrong. His power is limited and he is roaming about “like a lion” trying to devour whomever he can. Yet, in God we have protection. We can conduct our lives without fear of our enemy because God has erected a hedge of protection about us.

When we put our focus on God’s power and Kingdom, we can get our eyes off the distractions and “roarings” of our enemy. He’s defeated and he knows it. Trust JESUS!

Doomed cities

Ezekiel 27

Tyre was a great, seaport city like New York. God was revolted by its pride. Its king thought he was a god. Although the nations were served by its commerce, God made an example of it for all to see. Nothing but ruins remain today.

Cities can become seemingly invincible. How could so much building mass, infrastructure, and assemblage of people ever become vulnerable? Easy. Just begin thinking you’re above God, that you’re too big and powerful so that nothing can stop you.

Blessed is the nation (and city) whose God is the Lord. [Ps. 35:12]
