Babylon is Fallen

Mystery Babylon, the symbol in the book of Revelation for the false religious system in the world, will fall in one hour. God’s Word will come to pass and judgement upon the false religions will result in their destruction by fire.

“Come out of her” is the admonition by the voice from heaven.

Although we don’t know exactly what city she is, we know we are to separate ourselves from all falsity and religion that does not recognize Jesus as Lord.

True worshipers worship God in Spirit and Truth. God inhabits your praise. You KNOW you have connected with Him.

PRAYER: Lord, You alone deserve our praise. We will worship only You. Be exalted as we sing and praise Your name. We will praise You all day long.

Don’t Receive the Mark

Christians are warned not to take the Mark of the Beast. Those who do will taste of God’s full wrath. We are to abide in “patient endurance,” keeping God’s commands and resting in the faith Jesus gives us through His Word and His Presence. Herein is another prime reason to daily be in God’s Word.

Those who have the mark will worship the Beast. Those who worship only Jesus and refuse to bow to all else are safe.

We don’t yet know what the mark is, but we full well know how to worship Jesus.

PRAYER: Lord, our supreme desire is to worship You and be faithful to the end.

The Time Has Come …

Mentioned in chapter 10 is a time when Christians are to begin receiving their reward.  Their endurance is over. Their goal is achieved.

Paul said, “Eye has not seen, ear has not heard, nor has it yet entered into the heart of man the things God has prepared for them that love Him.”

Those who seek their ultimate reward in this life have settled for far less than what God has prepared. We are wise to put our investments into the heavenlies, not here on earth.

PRAYER: Father, give us wisdom to look ahead to the reward You have planned for us. By the power of Your Holy Spirit, help us endure to the end.

Hardened by Sin

John the Revelator describes an element of mankind who endure God’s wrath and signs in the earth, yet remain callous and hardened to Him. They continue on in their sin with no regard for what’s right. They are blinded to the truth.

Jesus addressed the scoffers of His day as being of their father, the devil.

Only God truly knows what is in the heart of man. Our job, however, is to continue loving them and witnessing to them of God’s great plan of redemption. Those who show mercy will reap mercy.

PRAYER: Lord, we sometimes gasp in wonder at those who are so entrenched in their sin. Continue to let Your love flow through us to them. Break up the bonds of sin and open their eyes to the Truth.

The Great Day of God’s Wrath

We are told of a day of wrath to come. Men will be crying out for the mountains to fall upon them rather than face God’s wrath. Where is this fear of the Lord today?

In my 68 years of living, I have never seen so much callous and blatant disrespect for God and country. The gap between believers and non-believers seems to be widening. What’s the answer for the Christian?

I think of Micah’s words … “He has shown thee, O man, what is good, and what does the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with thy God.” [Micah 6:8] ie. love God and keep His commands.

PRAYER: Lord, we look to You when we see the signs of the times indicating the coming doom. We will lift up our heads to our coming redemption. Maranatha! You are coming again for Your people.

Time to Repent

The doctrines of Jezebel had a foothold in the church at Thyatira. The Lord told John He gave them time to repent, but they did not.

The time we all have is a chance to “get it right.” This life is a chance to find Christ and “get it right.” Time is not our chance to merely enjoy ourselves.

Christ is not willing that any perish, hence He offers the gift to time to turn from our wicked ways and enter a life of fully trusting Him and pleasing Him.

We still have time to repent.

PRAYER: Father, thank You for the gift of time. Give us patience and grace to pray for others so they have a chance to get right with You.

Last Day Scoffers

It was predicted that there would be scoffing against believers in the last days.

TV, movies, celebrities, politicians, comedians etc. are all verbally assaulting the Christian faith. We should not act surprised, but cling to the Lord through His Word and our faith. Most of us have not yet “striven unto blood.”

We must be faithful to continue in the things we know to be true.

“He that endureth to the end shall be saved.”  [Matt. 10:22]

PRAYER: Lord, even though there is scoffing all around, we will continue to love and trust You to the end. As the Psalmist said, “Whom have I in heaven but You, and there is none upon earth that I desire beside You. You alone are my portion and my inheritance.”

Loving God

John had revelation on loving God and His children. He made the qualifying statement, “This is love for God, to keep His commands.” [1 Jn. 5:3]

Herein lies a big reason why it’s so spiritually healthy to read through the Bible yearly. We ingest God’s Word, we gain a clearer understanding of His commands, we accumulate faith as we read, and we grow to love and depend upon Him more completely.

Our daily walk becomes a walk with Him. “If you abide in Me, and My Words abide in you, you shall ask what you will and it shall be done unto you.” [Jn. 15:7] This is fellowship with God, this is loving God.

PRAYER: Father, You have the words of life. Where else could we go?

Judgement is Coming

As Peter describes, so many live without fear or knowledge of the coming judgement. Both the living and the dead shall be judged.

I remember the “IG” inspections in the Army. Inspector General happens for all. You clean, you shine, you line up, and you prepare for the “white glove.” The inspector would wear a white glove and check for dirt everywhere. I remember when he reached far in to my starched, picture-perfect shirts and just happened to pull out a sleeve that was missing a button. Horrors!

We should live our lives with the inspection in mind.

“Make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him.” [2 Pet. 3:14]

PRAYER: Father, You know and see all. By Your grace we will be mindful of pleasing You with every detail of our lives. We trust our future to You.

Rid Yourselves of These …

Peter was pragmatic. He and James both had a handle on coaching the believers in everyday challenges. Hence the admonition regarding sin, “Rid yourselves ie. ‘Stop it!'”

Too many coddle sin. You must deal firmly with it. Have no mercy. Get it out.

How does sin come out? Through the mouth.

“If we confess our sin, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sin and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” [1 Jn. 1:9]

PRAYER: Father, we want to please You with our daily lives. We desire to see Your glory emanate from everything we do.
