Return

The prophet Jeremiah’s message to the children of Israel and Judah, return to the Lord and his unfailing love will accept you back. How often our lives end up displeasing the Lord, but His enduring, eternal love to us through Christ keeps beckoning, “Return, come back to Me and I will restore you.”

Amazing love, how can it be that Christ would die for me.

PRAYER: LORD YOUR UNFAILING LOVE NEVER RUNS OUT ON ME. WE PRAISE AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR FAITHFULNESS TO US EVEN THOUGH WE HAVE BEEN UNFAITHFUL TO YOU.

God Has A Plan

God has a plan for your life just like He did for Jeremiah. God told Jeremiah, “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you.” It’s the same with you. You might not be called to be a prophet to the nations, but God has a plan for you to fulfill. You have great significance, and the only way for you to fully realize your value is to give your life entirely to God’s purposes and trust Him by faith to lead you as He did Jeremiah.

PRAYER: Father in Heaven, You chose to dwell with us and work in our lives by Your precious Holy Spirit. Speak to us, lead us, and use us like You did Jeremiah and the great men and women of the Bible.

The New Jerusalem

God’s Holy Mountain in Jerusalem will always be the focal point of His eternal reign. [Ps. 132:14] It will be the authority center of His dominion when Christ sets up His ultimate rule there. It is prophesied to be the “Joy of the whole earth.”

In the same way, Christ brings joy and newness to those who accept Him as their Savior and King. “Old things are passed away, behold all things are become new.” [2 Cor. 5:17]

PRAYER: Father in Heaven, we live in humble anticipation of Your reign here on earth. We prepare ourselves for that day by living each day directed by Your Spirit and worshiping You with all our hearts.

I Will Not Be Quiet

I am going to apply a double meaning to these words from Isaiah, chapter 62.

First, I will not be silent in letting my voice of prayer be heard in the Heavenlies. I will cry out to God until He has His way in the earth.

Secondly, I will not be silent when I should be witnessing about Him to everyone. I will open my mouth to praise Him and witness to the world about His great salvation.

PRAYER: Father in Heaven, give me the boldness of the Holy Ghost to be a witness to everyone I come in contact with. Your Gospel is Good News.

He’s Coming Again!

One of the most vivid memories I will carry with me from my trip to the Holy Land was standing on the Mount of Olives and considering Christ’s path from where He splits the mountain and makes His victorious way across the Kidron Valley and through the Eastern Gate into Jerusalem.

What is to be our response? As the prophet declared, “Arise, shine, for thy Light is come.” The glory of the Lord is risen upon us. We will become the city Christ dwells in. We, the Church, are His intended destination.

PRAYER: Lord, we live in expectant anticipation of Your return to this earth. We hereby dedicate our lives and energies to serving You in whatever way we can. Give us a jobto do to bring about Your return.

Honoring the Lord

Isaiah uttered profound insight into how individuals can truly honor the Lord with their lives in chapter 58. They were personal disciplines such as fasting and keeping the Sabbath.

Both are not popular pulpit subjects nowadays. Our ears are not tickled nor our pleasure-seeking natures appeased when self denial is mentioned. Yet, God used the prophet to identify practices that show Him we are intent upon pleasing Him with our devotion.

As the hymn writer stated, “Take Time to be Holy.”

PRAYER: Father, forgive us for chasing all the meaningless pleasures of life rather than seeking to please You with acts of sacrifice and devotion creating an aroma that truly pleases You.

A Man of Sorrows

Our Christ, our Redeemer was a man of sorrows, acquainted with grief. The Heavenly Father laid ALL our sin and affliction upon Him. He didn’t refuse it. He didn’t complain. He bore it and carried it all the way to a death painful beyond description. Days ago, I stood at the foot of a cliff many recognize as Golgotha … Mt. Calvary. He truly was lifted up for all to see.

When we are buffeted and tried, we become “whiny wimps” and complain about life’s injustices. Paul challenges us to get to really know Christ through the fellowship of His sufferings. We need to change our view on challenges.

PRAYER: Lord, forgive us for being so resistant to any form of suffering. Grace us to see the opportunity to draw near to You through the sufferings of life. You are our Great Example.

Banking on the Eternal

All that we see will change. The heavens shall vanish like smoke, and the earth shall wear out like old clothes. But they that put their trust in the Lord shall be like Mt. Zion where God dwells in the hearts and lives of His people. They will be secure against whatever happens … all God’s promises to His earthly city, Jerusalem, are concurrent with His care for His people. Regardless of earth’s fate, God’s people will always be secure and eternally cared for by His providence.

Live in this confidence. Praise Him for it.

PRAYER: Father in Heaven, who are we that You would die for us and give all the precious promises and provisions. Your great love is unfathomable. We humbly return our praise and trust to You. Hallelujah!

The Fate of Nations

Isaiah’s insight into the future, more than any other prophet, spoke to entire nations concerning their fate and their relationship to Israel. Egypt, Babylon, Syria, Lebanon … all were identified by the prophet in his sacred discourses compiled in the canonical book under his name.

The pivotal point of consequence was always how they related to God’s people, Israel.

I remember the words of the Psalmist encouraging the kings of the earth to “Kiss the Son lest He be angry.” [Ps.2]  It all boils down to how we relate to Christ Jesus. It is His eternal kingdom that is coming. All nations will come and bow down to Him in worship.

PRAYER: Father, in light of Your eternal plan in the earth, and the time and space we have yet to do Your will, give us the grace and wisdom to diligently serve Your eternal purposes here on earth by bringing men to their reconciliation with You.

Chosen

The Jews were chosen by G0d to be His people, His offspring, His inheritance. Sadly, many  who trace their roots to Abraham seem to be diametrically opposed to anything Godly, let alone Christian. In fact, many  persecute Christian believers.

I am of the view that the true “Israel of God” is the body of believers who are Abraham’s children not because of their bloodline, but because of their faith in Christ Who is God’s door to salvation.

Recently as I approached the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem, a bearded gentleman approached me and asked if I was a Jew. My answer … the Apostle Paul said that I am the “Israel of God.” The man had no rebuttal, but smiled and turned to the next pilgrim who approached the wall. [Gal. 6:16]

PRAYER: Lord, my faith has given me my standing with You in the Eternal Church, Your Body, Your Bride. I am Your chosen vessel. You sought me out and purchased my salvation with Your blood. I am of the Redeemed.
