Elihu also responded to Job’s plight. He, however, was not ultimately rebuked by God like the other three “friends?!” Interestingly, he spoke from a youthful,burning heart. He is to be commended for his passion and understanding of God, no doubt gained through seeking to know the greatness and nature of God.

God’s Spirit scans the earth, looking for seekers who want to know Him and His ways. Jesus said, “Ask and it will be given, seek and you will find, knock and it will be opened for you.” With a promise like that, what hinders?

DAILY PRAYER: Lord, I seek You and Your wisdom. Jesus, reveal Yourself to me so I have the mind of Christ.

DAILY READING: Job 32-37

One of the errors Job made was to blame God for his misfortune. He thought God had afflicted him when in fact the devil had. True, God had reluctantly allowed it to happen, but ultimately rectified every misconception and rewarded Job for his misery.

We are permitted the questions, but supreme trust in God’s plan for our lives is the safest posture we can embrace. Don’t blame God for misfortune. Rather, declare your trust and wait for His deliverance and reward.

DAILY PRAYER: Lord, now we see through a glass dimly, but one day all will be revealed. We trust You. We wait for You. Give us grace to endure.

DAILY READING: Job 29-31

Job obviously used the attention he drew because of his suffering as a chance to speak his mind. The price paid for by his pain was rewarded with an audience.

Personally, I have found this to be true. Because of my health challenges, I can use this platform to declare the faithfulness of God and display the fruit of His grace.

DAILY PRAYER: Lord, You are the giver of life and every good thing. Thank You for Job’s deliverance. Thank You for my deliverance.

DAILY READING: Job 25-28

Job’s “comforters” (?) offered him much advice. Some of it was ok, and some bitterly discouraging. Ultimately, God showed up and cleared the air.

When you are in a trial, you may have “comforters” also.  Beware of those whose counsel leaves you down. The Holy Spirit always shows you the way up.

The Psalmist said, “Whom have I in heaven but You,and there is none upon earth that I desire besides You.”[Ps. 73:25]

DAILY PRAYER: Lord, I will trust in You alone. Your Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light to my path. Keep me in Your will.

DAILY READING: Job 22-24

What enabled Job to make this monumental statement?  “I know that my Redeemer lives, and that in the end He will stand upon the earth. In my flesh I will see God.” [Job 19:25,26]

It had to be his faith. It clearly sustained him during his ordeal.

This amazing factor is available to us through our relationship with this living “Redeemer.” It’s Jesus.

DAILY PRAYER: Lord, though our flesh fails, and circumstances try to get us down, we will look to You for strength for this day, and hope in the secure future that You provide.

DAILY READING: Job 18-21

We read about Job’s journey and often make the mistake of placing ourselves somewhere in the middle of his trial. We must rest in hope by fixing our focus on his end. Although he endured seemingly impossible challenges, he was rewarded with multiplied blessing in his later days.

“Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.” [1 Pet. 4:12,13]

DAILY PRAYER: Lord, forgive me for complaining about the hardships of life. I know You will give me the strength to endure to the end when I will receive the reward You have prepared for me.

DAILY READING: Job 11-17

Job, recognized as a prophet, gives insights into God’s greatness and His creation. Key passages from his book, recognized as the oldest contribution to the canon of scripture, provide substantive material for scholars and theologians.

In spite of its age, this book gives us valuable instruction on not only the grand scope of our God’s power, but on His ability to intimately involve Himself in our daily struggles. He set the stars in their courses, yet His love reaches carefully into every challenge you will face today.

DAILY PRAYER: Lord, Your greatness overwhelms me. I praise You for it. Empower me today to live in the realization of how Your greatness can impact the way I live.

DAILY READING: Job 8-10

Job was clearly not deserving of the great suffering and pain brought upon him, yet he endured and gave us a running commentary on his difficult journey. We are consoled by relating to him and draw strength for our own process through knowing the struggles he endured.

Weeping endures for the night, but joy comes in the morning. [Ps. 30:5]

God always provides strength to endure, and His reward at the conclusion of our pain is worth waiting for.

DAILY PRAYER: Lord, we have had tribulation, but You have overcome the world and its struggles.  Cause us to be overcomers by your grace.

DAILY READING: Job 3-7

When Job had suffered the grief of losing nearly everything, his friends came and sat quietly with him.

The mere presence and support of friends in the time of grief means a great deal to those suffering. No need for eloquent words or arrogant advice … just your caring presence speaks volumes.

DAILY PRAYER: Lord, comfort those who mourn today. Give us wisdom to be sensitive to the needs of others.

DAILY READING: Esther 8-10; Job 1,2

Upon reading the accurate and inspiring prophecies of Isaiah, this Christmas can be more meaningful and peaceful. No matter the world situation is tense and governments seem to be caving to the ways of ungodliness, we are comforted when we read of the Lord’s end-time plan to restore His Government upon His Holy Hill.

Jesus shall reign forever and ever.

DAILY PRAYER: Lord, You came to earth through Your humble birth. We celebrate Your great kingdom today as we remember Your incarnation.
