Defiance and Insolence

Korah, Dathan, and Abiram all led a group of men who rebelled against the authority of Moses and his brother, Aaron. They challenged God’s appointed leaders with these words, “What makes you think you’re the only ones in charge?”

God verified Moses’ leadership by causing the ground to open up and swallow alive the three men and their families.  Shortly thereafter, God sent fire from heaven to consume the group of 250 dissidents.

“Obey them that have the oversight of you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give accounts, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.”  Heb. 13:7

DAILY PRAYER:  Father, grace me to be a submissive and respectful follower of You and the leaders You put in my life.

Avoid Complaining

Moses complained to God that his task of leading the needy Children of Israel was too great. They complained about the manna miraculously provided six mornings a week. Ten of the twelve spies sent to investigate the promised land spread the negative report among the people that they would not be able to conquer the inhabitants.

The complaining greatly displeased God, and prevented those guilty from entering the new land. Even Moses, disobedient to God because his spirit was agitated against the people, could not enter.

Again I say, avoid complaining.

DAILY PRAYER:  Father, forgive me for the times I grumble and complain.  I will believe You and trust in Your great power to bring about Your Kingdom here on this earth.

Follow The Cloud

God led Israel through the wilderness with a cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. HEAVENLY GPS.

Personally, the GPS on my phone takes alot of battery, so I have to use it judiciously. We can keep our spiritual batteries charged by plugging in to God’s presence all day. The cloud stays in our view longer.

He leadeth me, He leadeth me,
By His own hand He leadeth me;
His faithful foll’wer I would be,
For by His hand He leadeth me.

DAILY PRAYER:  Lord, You are my Heavenly Guide.  I will follow You.  I don’t trust my own directional devices.

God Pays Attention

The daily offerings to be brought to the Tabernacle were specified and noted by God.  After the sacrificial offerings were made, God spoke to Moses from between the Cherubim over the Mercy Seat on the Ark of the Covenant.

In the same way, God speaks to us from His holy presence as we bring our praise offerings to Him whenever we worship.  God responds to our worship.

DAILY PRAYER:  Lord, it is our pleasure to bring our sacrifices of worship into Your House.  We are desperate to hear from You as we worship.

Failed Father Forgiveness

The list of Bible fathers who were highly regarded leaders with sons who turned out bad is significant:  Adam, Aaron, David, Eli, and there were probably others.

Effective parenting takes the grace and mercy of God.  Put God first in all you do and pray for your children daily.  If they choose to go another direction, keep praying, accept the Lord’s forgiveness, and keep the return lanes open.

DAILY PRAYER:  Lord, grace me to be a good parent.  I  need Your wisdom to be a godly example to the young eyes who watch me.

The Lord Has A Plan

As demonstrated in the book of Numbers, God made clear to Moses who specifically were to be the leaders of each tribe’s fighting men and where they were to camp.

If you have a Kingdom responsibility, don’t worry, God will show you how to do it and who else He wants involved.

He is faithful and ALL KNOWING.

DAILY PRAYER:  Lord, You know and have what I need. I trust Your voice and wisdom.

You Are Safe

The Lord guaranteed security to His people if they followed His commands.

“I will grant peace in the land, and you will lie down and no one will make you afraid.”  Lev. 26:6

If you fear God, you don’t have to fear anything or anyone else.

DAILY PRAYER:  Lord, thank You for the security You give to Your people.  I trust in Your strength.

The Earth Belongs to the Lord

Amazingly, even the land knows when its inhabitants are obedient to the Lord.  It yields increase according to the way its owners are in accord with God’s principles, because the Lord has ultimate control over its productivity.

It pays to serve the Lord.

“When a man’s ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.”  Prov. 16:7

DAILY PRAYER:  Father in Heaven, You are good to Your people.  I want to please You in all my ways today.  Lead me in paths of righteousness.

Holiness is Imparted

A repeated phrase in the law is, “I am the LORD, and I make you Holy.”  We don’t attain holiness by our merits nor our achievements.  It can only be imparted to us by the Lord.

You are not holy because you abstain from moral impurity … you abstain from moral impurity because you are holy.

David said, “Blessed is the one whom you choose, and cause to come near, that he may live in your courts.”  [Ps. 65:4a, WEB]

DAILY PRAYER:  Father in Heaven, draw me close to You. Never let me go my own way.  I hereby commit my ways to You and Your standards of holiness.

Don’t Learn Their Ways

God’s culture is holiness.  He warned the Children of Israel to avoid the evil practices of the inhabitants of the lands they were possessing, practices that were punishable by death.

Immorality feeds the lustful desires of our flesh, but holiness and moral purity fosters healthy spiritual life.  Holy living brings glory to God and is rewarded by His abiding presence.

“Blessed are the pure in heart; they shall see God.”

DAILY PRAYER:  Lord, I want to see You.  Keep me pure, keep me clean so that You many be seen.
