Every eye shall see Him

Revelation 1

” … even those who pierced Him.”

This intrigues me. Does it mean that God will cause everyone throughout history to witness the 2nd Advent of Jesus? With God it’s possible.

We also know that EVERY knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. It is so wise for us to do it of our own volition, confessing Him as Lord and tasting the Abundant Life NOW.

Natural instincts vs. Tha Spirit

Jude

We are warned not to follow natural instincts but rather God’s Spirit.

One big natural instinct is revenge. If we have been wronged, it is our natural instincts to seek revenge. God says, “Vengence is Mine! I will repay.”

Be filled with the Spirit, speaking to yourselves in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your hearts to the Lord.

God is love

1 John 3, 4

John’s message was simple but profound… God IS LOVE. Love is to be our main motivation. Acts of service and kindness show this world what God is like. His Spirit will arrange opportunities for you to show His love. When you do, YOU will get the biggest blessing from giving His love to others.

The promise of eternal life

1 John 1, 2

The older I get, the more I think about what eternal life will be like. We rely upon the Word’s descriptions of it. I am also looking forward to it because my aging body is worse for the wear.

Yet we are told that our carnal eyes and minds have not yet even considered how great it will be. [1 Cor. 2:9]

With each passing day, I more fully understand why my earthly father, David Demos, was so anxious to go to heaven. He’s very happy right now.

Bring on that Day

2 Peter 3.

Sorry I’ve missed a couple of days. I been Birthday lazy.

Peter links our progression to holy lives with the Day of the Lord. Hence, our indifference toward pure lives delays it.

Saints, we need the Return of the Lord. Look around. Things are a MESS. I shudder at what kind of a society we are leaving for my unborn greatgrandchildrrn.

… Let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. [2 Cor. 7:1]

Rescued from trials

2 Peter 1, 2. [NIV Dramatized Audio]

This life has its trials. Yet, as Christians we have a Savior who rides along with us over every bump on life’s road. If we feel it, He feels it. We are not alone.

Christ is our Advocate. He has NEVER lost a battle. He knows how to rescue us from the trials we experience. [2 Peter 2:9] ( This would be a good verse to memorize if you are going through a trial)

Examples of Christ, not lords

1 Peter 4, 5. [NIV Dramatized Audio]

Many want to be the boss and not the follower. If we have a chance or obligation to be in charge, be like Christ Jesus Who was humble and inclined to serve. Lording it over people will cause you to be resented.

God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.

If you suffer unjustly

1 Peter 2. [NIV Dramatized Audio]

O horrors if we ever suffer unjustly, but that’s exactly what we are called to for the sake of Christ. “All who live Godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.” [2 Tim. 3:12]

If we do, God can and will more than make it up to us. Remember, this life is merely a warmup for an eternity with God in Heaven.

The heavens were opened to Strphen AS he was being stoned.

Be holy in ALL you do

1 Peter 1. [NIV Dramatized Audio]

The Christian life is a journey from carnality to holiness. The carnal mind focuses on satisfying the appetites of our flesh. The holy mind focuses on pleasing God. It doesn’t happen overnight, although transforming experiences at the altar can make big changes.

Our goal; that His kingdom fully comes in our daily life – body, soul and spirit.

Don’t swear

James 5 [NIV Dramatized Audio]

Many people fall into the bad habit of swearing (making an oath) and cursing (GD this and GD that). F-bombs and ignorant misuses of common language terms to add abnormal weight to a conversation abound in our culture. (I personally blame Hollywood for severely degrading the English language)

“Let your yes be yes and your no be no so that you will not sin and be condemned for it.” [V. 12]
