Only by prayer

Mark 9 [NIV Dramatized Audio]

The disciples could not cast the evil spirit out of a certain man after trying. When asked why, Jesus replied, “Some can only come out by prayer.”

Often, prayer is the only thing we can do. It’s usually the best thing we can do. Just because we can’t see the immediate results of our prayer, we often neglect to do it.

Personally, I have witnessed the powerful, positive results of my persistent prayers. That keeps me praying and encouraging others to do so likewise. Couple that with the knowledge that there isn’t anything too difficult for the Lord, we keep praying and asking and believing for miraculous results in the lives of those we love.

The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man is powerful.” [James 5:16]

Healing for your eyes

Mark 8 [NIV Dramatized Audio]

Christ healed a blind man … He spit on the man’s eyes and they began letting him see clearly.

I had great eyes nearly my entire life, until I had a retinal detachment. I also developed a retinal hole. Two emergency surgeries and cataract removal with lens implants. I desire to he completely healed. I’m not complaining. I’m believing in faith for my eyesight to be restored.

Maybe you could use a miracle. Let’s believe together.

Father in Heaven, in the name of Jesus we ask for healing for our eyes.

More than enough

Mark 6-8 [NIV Dramatized Audio]

On several occasions Jesus fed a large group of his followers with very little available food. Each time, there was essentially more left over than they had to begin with.

A Proverb says, “The liberal (generous) soul shall be made fat (well supplied). However, when you withhold, you will tend to poverty.

If our focus is on “getting and holding on to,” we are cutting against the grain of what Jesus is all about. But, if we love to give, He has our back when times are tough.

We have authority

Mark 6 [NIV Dramatized Audio]

In that Christ has been given ALL AUTHORITY in heaven and earth, He can delegate to whomever He wishes. He gathered His Disciples to Himself and gave them a mission. Cast out devils, heal the sick, and preach that men should repent.

As disciples of Christ, WE have been given that same authority and power. A demon spirit is not to be feared but to be cast out. We are to drive them out. When you drive your car, who’s in control? YOU are. We use the name and power of Jesus to do it. We are not timid. We take control over the demon.

All the POWER you need

Mark 5 [NIV Dramatized Audio]

A woman with a serious malady thought, “If I can just touch Jesus, I will be healed.” She was right. Christ immediately declared, “Who touched Me? I felt power go out of Me just now.”

Jesus is the universe’s power broker. He has ALL the power there is. Putin has none. China’s premier Xi has none. Our government really has none. Christ Jesus has ALL THE POWER.

She touched Him. He touched people. I love the word “touch.” I usually pray like this … “Lord, touch so-n-so with Your power.” God’s power flows through the touch as well as by verbal command.

If you want an extra blessing, look up some of Tasha’s music on Youtube. She is fantastic, and carries a strong anointing.

Testify

Mark 4, 5 [NV Dramatized Audio]

After Jesus had cast the demons out of the man living in the Gadarenes, the man was clothed and in his right mind. He wanted to follow Jesus, but was instructed to go back to his family and tell them what had happened to him.

Back in the good ol’ days, I remember testimony services where saints were given the opportunity to share what God had done for them. Yes, there were those who just ate up the chance to talk about themselves, but it was a vital experience for many.

In small groups is a good place for this to happen.

Healing draws a crowd

Mark 1-3 [NIV Dramatized Audio]

As Christ moved about Galilee and taught, He healed many. News spread and big crowds were gathered. Thousands were attracted to the miracles He was performing.

I’ve personally been to Oral Roberts, Kathryn Kuhlman, and Leroy Jenkins’ meetings where healings and gifts of the Spirit were openly manifested. Many were drawn to these meetings because of the power of God being on display. Jesus didn’t promote Himself. He just kept healing people because of HIs compassion.

Does Christ have any less compassion today? Is His power diminished? No and No. Let’s believe God for a fresh display of His healing power. I guarantee you, it will draw crowds.

Christ is WITH / IN us

Matt. 28 [NIV Dramatized Audio]

After His escape from the tomb and before He ascended to The Father, Christ appeared to His Disciples in Galilee. He told them, “I will be with you until the end of the age.” Paul said, “I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live, yet not I but Christ liveth IN me: And the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by the faith of the Son of God Who loved me, and gave Himself for me.” [Gal. 2:20]

Wherever we go, whatever we do, Christ is with us. He’s always as close as the mention of His Name. When times get tough, remember this truth.

The tomb where Jesus lay

Matt 27 [NIV Dramatized Audio]

On my trip to the Holy Land, our tour spent time at the sight of the Garden Tomb. Golgotha, the place of the skull, is not far from it. It was a memorable day. I remember sensing such peace there.

In our daily Christian lives, we endure our own tombs and places of execution where we die to self and the pain our trials befall. Death to self brings God’s peace, not the taste of defeat and sorrow as we would suppose. When we die to self, we rise to walk in newness of life. We leave behind our graveclothes and stench of death. Like Christ, we are free to proceed to the next task God has for us.

Bestir thyself to pray

Matt. 26 [NIV Dramatized Audio]

Jesus tried three times to get His Disciples to watch and pray with Him just before His crucifixion. Sometimes we just need to keep ourselves awake to pray.

Years ago when I went to the church every morning at 6 a.m. to cultivate a morning prayer life, I would quickly go to sleep if I knelt down at a pew to pray. I concluded, “This isn’t working.” So, I began walking and praying. I would sing through 5 Psalms every day, loudly. iI developed iron lungs and a strong voice.

David had to speak to himself and stir up his inner man. Awake up, my glory (tongue); awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early. [Ps. 57:8]

I remember one morning when I had to make a strong effort to stay awake. Eventually, I experienced one of the greatest times of worship and spiritual breakthrough in my life. My effort to stay awake and pray was GREATLY REWARDED.
