The Children of Israel brought gifts to the Lord … elements needed for the sacrifices and construction of the Tabernacle etc. They brought their best, all on a freewill basis.
We have the opportunity to give our best to the Lord. Our abilities and efforts can be submitted to the local church for the edification of all. Everyone has SOMETHING to offer, even if it’s just time to donate for menial tasks. It’s all sacred and of greatest importance.
The last stanza of Isaac Watts’ famous hymn, “When I Survey the Wondrous Cross” says:
Were the whole realm of nature mine,
That were a present far too small;
Love so amazing, so divine,
Demands my soul, my life, my all.
