A Better Way

The prevailing theme of the book of Hebrews is that in Christ, we can embrace and receive God’s very best for our lives.  It all comes through Christ Jesus and a personal relationship with Him.

“As for God, His way is perfect … He maketh my way perfect.”  [2 Sam. 22:31,33]

Christ Jesus is our Savior, our Healer, our best Friend, our Guide, our Comforter, our Peace … He’s everything we need Him to be.  He’s as close as the mention of His name.

Call upon the Lord and He will hear and come immediately to your need.  This is true Christianity.

DAILY PRAYER;  Lord, You are my all in all.  I trust You for everything.  Lead and guide me today into truth.

DAILY READING:  Heb. 6-9

Don’t Fall Short

When we become Christians, we don’t suddenly land on “Easy Street.”  We are encouraged to be diligent not only in our lives but in our faith.  Daily devotion to the highest levels of service, enthusiasm, prayer, Bible study … this is the intensity that God deserves.  This is the intensity that will give you the highest level of fulfillment and personal satisfaction.  The key is allowing God’s Spirit and grace to fuel your efforts.

Pray the following prayer:

DAILY PRAYER:  Lord, You gave all for me.  Give me the health, strength, and wisdom to be energized today to accomplish all that is possible to bring glory to Your name and further Your Kingdom.  In Your name and by Your grace I pray.

A Difficult Thing to Do

Paul told Titus, a Greek believer and one of his top leadership trainees, to encourage his followers to slander no one … speak evil of no man … malign no one … not tear down another with words … don’t insult them … don’t curse them … don’t blaspheme them.  [Titus 3:2 in different translations]

Believe me, its so easy to fall into the trap of using our words to degrade someone who gives us any resistance or opposition.  It’s difficult to be obedient to this challenge, yet we must.  Speaking evil against one of Christ’s followers is speaking evil of Him.

DAILY PRAYER:   Lord, forgive us for speaking evil of others.  Let the law of kindness be in our mouth today.  We trust You.

Fan Into Flame the Gift of God

As with a fire whose embers are merely smoldering, the Apostle encourages Timothy to fan the gifts he has been given so that they once again reach the intensity they formerly had.

How about you?  The gift of God deposited in you is actually one of the most significant parts of your life.  If you’ve allowed the subtle enemies of spiritual life to smother God’s deposit, begin right now by committing yourself again to seeking the Lord through prayer, study, and action to once again be aflame for His purposes.

DAILY PRAYER:  Lord, I don’t want to be lukewarm any longer.  I hereby stir up myself in the Holy Spirit.  Make me hot for You.

Fight the Good Fight of Faith.

Life presents its struggles, On occasion, you or someone you love may go through a bitter trial that makes you wonder if serving the Lord is worth it.  The key is in your mouth, even the word of faith you can speak to your situation.

Declare Jesus Lord OVER every situation and thank Him in advance for the victory He has already provided.  As you do that, lift your hands to the Lord as Paul instructs, holy hands without wrath or doubting.

Then, you can stand still and see the salvation of the lord.  He will join the fight because of your faith.

DAILY PRAYER:  Lord, I thank You in advance for the solution to my problem.  I know You are touched with my situation, and can feel the pain I have.  You are my victory.

We Are Protected

Again, Paul expresses through the letters to the church at Thessalonica that believers will be protected from the challenges of the days to come, especially when the “Man of Lawlessness” is revealed. We must trust the Lord’s keeping power as He unfolds His end-time plan.  He is following the script He wrote to ultimately bring the focus of our world back to Himself.

As we see last day events transpire, we confidently position ourselves in the armor He gives, we maintain a strength of fellowship with God through His Holy Spirit and prayer, and we keep plugged in to His Kingdom that is provided through the local church or assembly of believers.

DAILY PRAYER:   Father, You are in control.  We trust You to keep us safe from all alarm.  We hereby rest in the peace You provide.

DAILY READING:   1 and 2 Thess.

Let Peace Rule Your Heart

Rather than fear or worry over the future, the Apostle Paul declared, “Let the peace of God rule in your hearts.”  Let peace be the controlling attitude rather than one that would breed anxiety.

When the New Testament refers to God’s peace, it refers to the feeling one has when all the bills are paid and all offense is reconciled.  Everything is made right, and we can live without stress.

Is this peace that’s available what’s controlling your heart?  If not, pray this prayer.

DAILY PRAYER:  Lord, cleanse me, renew me, and by Your power, help me make all things right.  Flood my heart with Your peace.  Let it rule me today.  In Jesus name.

The Mindset of Christ

We are instructed to elevate our way of thinking to that of Christ Jesus. What would He think? What would He do?

The other day I told a joke to some leaders at the school which was funny to me, but had an edge of inappropriateness to it. I later thought, Jesus would NEVER tell that.  I promptly contacted each of them to apologize. The slate is clear once again.

Paul gives us a catalog of acceptable thought materials in Phil. 4:8.  Look it up and memorize it.

DAILY PRAYER: Lord, may the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptsble in Thy sight.

DAILY READING:  Phil. 1-4

End-Time Protection

There appear to be increasing threats to our well being on a daily basis.  The Lord will not leave us unprotected.  He has given us armor, “So that when the day of evil comes, [we] may be able to stand [our] ground.”  This armor is described in Eph. 6:14-17.

Also essential is that we pray in the Spirit on all occasions. [v.18]

The Lord knows the beginning from the end, so He knows what’s coming.  Because of His armor, we will stand and not fall.

DAILY PRAYER:  Lord, You are our protector.  We trust our loved ones to Your protection.

Faith and Love

In summary form, the Apostle Paul uses the letter to the Galatians to identify the struggle between the law and the Spirit, and the works of our flesh and the fruit of the Spirit.

He catalogs both in chapter 5.

He encourages us to have faith in Christ, and conduct ourselves daily through words and actions from a loving heart.  Love God first – believe in Him – trust Him – love people as you do yourself.  Simple!

DAILY PRAYER:  Lord Jesus, fill us today with Your Holy Spirit, and grace us to show Your love to everyone we meet.
